Police officers have arrested the driver of a vehicle in President William Ruto’s motorcade that hit and killed a foreign national along Ngong Road on Thursday.

Police sources privy to the matter told Citizen TV that the driver, whose identity was not revealed, was shortly released on cash bail as he awaits to be arraigned in court.

Investigations are still underway as the government vehicle was towed to Kilimani Police Station to identify and document evidence.

Police identified the victim as Edgar Charles Frederick, a British national aged 79. The body was transferred to Lee Funeral Home pending a postmortem examination.

Reports indicated that Frederick was hit by the convoy as he attempted to cross the road near the Adams Arcade area.

Witnesses at the scene claimed that the foreigner had an issue with his hearing and wasn’t aware of the shouts made by a traffic officer who was clearing the road.

Following the incident, the National Police Service (NPS) launched investigations and urged all road users to exercise caution and adhere to all traffic rules.

“The National Police Service urges motorists, pedestrians, and all other road users to exercise extreme caution and adhere to traffic rules to prevent accidents,” said the NPS.
