Five shortlisted for University of Nairobi Vice Chancellor position

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has shortlisted five candidates for the position of Vice Chancellor at the University of Nairobi (UoN).

This follows a competitive application process that began with an advertisement issued on January 21, 2025, which attracted six applicants by the closing date of February 11, 2025.

The shortlisted candidates, all male, are drawn from various counties within and include distinguished academics with extensive experience in higher education.

Their interviews are scheduled to take place on Friday, March 21, 2025, at the Public Service Commission offices located on Harambee Avenue in Nairobi.

Prof. James Njiru from Tharaka Nithin will face the panel at 8:30 a.m. followed by Prof. Duke Orata from Homa Bay at 9:30 a.m.

Prof. Bitange Ndemo from Kisii County will follow suit at 10:30 a.m. followed by Eng. Prof. Ayub Njoroge Gitau from Kiambu County at 11:30 a.m.

Prof. Francis Jackim Mulaa from Busia County will close the interviews at 12:30 p.m.

Candidates will be required to present original documents including their National Identity Card, academic and professional certificates, and a letter of recognition for any foreign degrees from the Commission for University Education (CUE).

The Public Service Commission has invited members of the community to submit any credible information regarding the shortlisted candidates.

“Such information should be presented through sworn affidavits and can be submitted to the Secretary/CEO of the Public Service Commission, either by visiting their Nairobi offices or via email at ho******@**************go.ke. Submissions must be received no later than March 19, 2025.”
