Police are probing the brutal murder of a 70-year-old woman in Kiambwe village in Ndia, Kirinyaga County.
Hellen Muthoni Mwai’s lifeless body was discovered in her compound after she was killed by unknown assailants.
Kirinyaga West Sub-County Police Commander Moses Koskei reported that Muthoni sustained significant injuries to her head, and her body was found approximately 20 meters from her home.
Beatrice Wangari, the deceased’s sister, was alone at the homestead.
“I cannot believe Muthoni is gone; we were chatting just yesterday,” Wangari lamented.
Joyce Gakuhi, who traveled from Kibirigwi to visit her aunt, expressed her shock, stating that this was the first murder incident their family has ever experienced.
“We want justice for my aunt,” Joyce said. Police added that an investigation has been initiated to identify Muthoni’s killer.
The body has been taken to Kerugoya Hospital mortuary, where a postmortem is pending.
