Head of Public Service Felix Koskei has issued a stern warning to those propagating banditry in the North Rift region terming it a criminal activity that has derailed development in the region.

Speaking at a thanksgiving event at Koloa Secondary School, Koskei affirmed that the government will do all it can to redeem the region which has been turned into a valley of death by bandits.

His tough talk comes in the wake of the brutal killing of a chief who was shot dead in a crossfire with bandits during a raid in Loruk, Baringo North.

“We are not going to leave Tiaty behind because of insecurity. We will deal with these criminals. We don’t have the North Rift to be branded as an insecure area. President said if we wanted this place to turn into an army barracks, he will do so because we want this area to develop,” Koskei said.

Koskei was joined by other leaders from the region who called for collaborative efforts to bring development and empower locals to have alternative sources of income.
