A senior administrator in Gatundu South sub-county has died by suicide hours after going into hiding over allegations of sexually assaulting two underage boys on April 20, 2025.
Gatundu Police Commander Jane Makena revealed that the suspect’s wife reported the incident shortly after discovering his body at their matrimonial home.
According to Makena, the suspect’s wife reported that upon returning home from the clinic, she found the house locked from the inside.
This prompted her to contact her brother-in-law, who rushed to the house and gained entry by breaking the lock. The duo discovered the Assistant Chief’s body dangling from the roof.
Moments after reporting the matter, police officers were dispatched to the scene and transferred the body to the Kenyatta University Funeral Home.
The police boss further pointed out that the assault case has been since closed following the sequence of events.
“The case is thus closed and it’s a sad turn of events as the victims will not get justice. I urge Kenyans to report such incidents to the police in due time,” she stated.
The assistant chief is said to have gone into hiding shortly after the incident was reported to the police.
One of the victims said he had gone to the administrator’s homestead with two friends to deliver milk, when he invited them into a separate house and offered them alcohol.
He said his friends left to care for a recently circumcised peer nearby, leaving the intoxicated boy with the administrator.
Moments after regaining consciousness at home, the boy found himself bleeding profusely.
A medical examination confirmed that he had been sexually violated, prompting his family to file a report at Gatundu Police Station.
That same night, the administrator allegedly followed the two other boys to a neighboring homestead.
One victim described how the chief cornered him, asked if he had been circumcised, and then groped him before ordering him to lie on a bed.
The terrified boy resisted, pushing the administrator aside and fleeing into the night.
The victims’ parents confirmed to the police that the Assistant Chief had attempted to bribe them to keep them silent.
