President William Ruto has promised that 25,000 households will be connected to electricity in Migori County by November this year.

The president made the announcement while touring Awendo Constituency, where he flagged off electrification materials under the Last Mile Connectivity Programme.

The electrification initiative will be implemented by the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC), as part of the government’s broader effort to enhance energy access in rural areas.

President Ruto stated that the project will benefit approximately 120,000 residents, enabling them to access electricity and, in turn, fostering both social and economic empowerment.

The entire exercise is expected to cost the taxpayer KSh 1.9 billion.

He further directed Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi to fast-track the implementation process to ensure timely delivery of the project
