The stage is set for a thrilling climax in the National Women’s Volleyball League after a dramatic semi-final weekend saw defending champions KCB ousted by a resurgent Kenya Pipeline on Saturday, May 24, 2025.

Pipeline showcased resilience and flair, bouncing back from a set down to stun KCB 3–1 in a high-octane encounter at Makande Stadium.

KCB started strong, clinching the first set 25–21 and appearing on track to force a decisive Game 3. But Pipeline turned the tide with precision and intensity, taking the next three sets — 25–23, 25–18, and 25–23 — to book their spot in the finals in style.

In the other women’s semifinal, DCI made history by reaching the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) finals for the first time, following back-to-back 3–2 victories over Kenya Prisons in a gripping two-day battle.

Friday’s match was a nail-biter, but Saturday’s rematch brought pure drama. DCI surged ahead by taking the first two sets 25–22, 25–22, before Prisons responded with a dominant 25–16 wins in the third and fourth sets. In a tense fifth set, tied at 10–10, DCI dug deep to secure a 15–12 victory, sparking jubilant scenes on the court and in the stands.

Kenya Pipeline last claimed the national title in 2022, while KCB held the crown for both 2023 and 2024. Now, the final will pit tradition against new blood: Kenya Pipeline versus DCI.

The men’s category promises equal fireworks, as perennial powerhouses GSU and Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) cruised through their semifinals to set up a blockbuster final.

GSU asserted their dominance with a commanding 3–1 win on Friday, followed by a straight-sets sweep on Saturday (25–20, 25–20, 25–16), demonstrating the confidence and cohesion of a team chasing another title.

KPA, meanwhile, made their intentions unmistakably clear with consecutive victories over Prisons Kenya. After a 3–1 win on Friday, they delivered a clinical 3–0 performance on Saturday (25–21, 25–17, 25–18), underscoring their championship pedigree.

The KVF finals are slated for next month in Nairobi.
