Football transfer market guru Fabrizio Romano has said that there was no chance of Nigeria-eligible striker Emanuel Emegha joining Chelsea this summer.

He said the attacker will remain at Strasbourg in the summer transfer window.

Romano pointed out that Chelsea are looking at signing Emegha but would allow him to remain at the French Ligue 1 club until the summer of 2026.

The French side would expect Emegha to help them in next season’s UEFA Conference League playoff round.

The 22-year-old scored 14 goals and provided three assists in 27 outings in the French top-flight.

Emegha is behind Ousmane Dembele, Mason Greenwood, Arnaud Kalimuendo, Jonathan David and Alexandre Lacazette in the goal chart of the recently concluded season.

Before joining the French side in 2023, Emegha had spells at KRSV Vredenburch, Sparta Rotterdam, Royal Antwerp and Sturm Graz.
