Police have launched an investigation into the death of a young female police officer following an alleged abortion procedure at a private facility in Nairobi’s Kawangware neighborhood.

Inspector Christine Muthoni of Muthangari Police Station reported the incident early on Tuesday morning.

According to the report filed under OB No. 05/18/06/2025, the unidentified woman’s lifeless body was transported to Eagle Hospital at approximately 12:20 a.m. in a private vehicle bearing the registration number KCP 623Y.

Medical personnel at the hospital confirmed the woman’s death from complications thought to be related to an abortion.

Her initial findings indicated that she had been transferred from Kabiro Hospital in Kawangware, which is about seven kilometers southeast of the police station.

Officers from the Muthangari Police Station, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Dagoretti, and a Scene of Crime (SOC) unit all responded quickly to the call.

They discovered the body inside the white vehicle, lying in a pool of blood.

Following further investigation, the deceased was identified as an Administration Police Constable assigned to the Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU) in Embakasi.

She was reportedly on leave at the time of the incident.

Investigators suspect the officer underwent an induced abortion, which may have led to fatal complications.

The estimated time of death was around 10:20 p.m., prior to being transported to Eagle Hospital.

Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident: Bruce Matte, identified as a facility nurse, and Indombuhai Humphrey, the driver of the vehicle.

Both are currently in police custody as the investigation continues.

The officer’s body has been transferred to City Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
