The High Court has extended orders suspending a directive by the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) that sought to bar television and radio stations from broadcasting live coverage of the anti-government demonstrations.

The matter was mentioned on Wednesday before Justice Chacha Mwita, who directed that it be mentioned again on October 27 for further directions.

Last week, the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) moved to the High Court and obtained conservatory orders suspending the CA directive, which had ordered all television and radio stations in the country to immediately cease live coverage of the June 25, 2025 protests.

LSK argued that the directive was unconstitutional.

During Wednesday’s proceedings, the court noted that the various applications challenging the directive raised similar issues hence should be consolidated into one case.

This came after it emerged that the Kenya Union of Journalists (KUJ) had filed two separate cases over the same issue.
