Two Real Madrid players have emerged as favourites to take the club’s number 10 shirt vacated by Luka Modric.

Recall that Modric left Real Madrid after the Spanish club was eliminated from the FIFA Club World Cup at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain some weeks ago.

The Croatia international played his last match for Los Blancos in the Club World Cup against PSG.

Real Madrid opted not to renew the contract of the veteran midfielder following the conclusion of the 2024/25 season.

As a result, Italian Serie A giants AC Milan secured a deal for the 39-year-old this summer.

Modric has since joined Milan after signing a one-year deal with the San Siro club.

However, according to Marca, Kylian Mbappé and Arda Güler are the two favourite Real Madrid players to wear the number 10 shirt last worn by Modric.

The report added that Real Madrid are yet to make a decision regarding the development.

Meanwhile, Modric has spoken about how he wants to be remembered after leaving Madrid for Milan.

The former Tottenham Hotspur star said he won six UEFA Champions League titles and several other trophies, including LaLiga, at Santiago Bernabéu.
