A middle-aged man has been sentenced to life in prison by a Malaba court after he was found guilty of murdering a boda boda rider on August 17, 2023.

Malaba Law Court Principal Magistrate Ocharo Momanyi found Geoffrey Wafula Malunda guilty of killing Jeremiah Otwane Papa before making away with his motorbike and mobile phone.

The court heard that Malunda, and other suspects who were not present in court, attacked and injured Papa in the vicinity of Upland Estate located within Malaba town, Busia County.

Papa later succumbed to his injuries, prompting the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to launch an operation to nab his killers.

The sleuths tracked the slain boda boda rider’s phone and motorbike, leading to the arrest of Malunda, who had fled to the neighboring Bungoma County after the incident.

However, the whereabouts of Malunda’s accomplices remains unknown.
