Twenty one people have been confirmed dead following a Friday evening crash at Coptic area on the Kisumu-Kakamega road.

A school bus which was ferrying mourners from Nyahera to Nyakach in Kisumu County was trying to turn a corner at the Coptic blackspot when it rolled.

Confirming the incident, Nyanza Regional Traffic Enforcement Officer Peter Maina said the fatalities are 10 men, 10 women and an eight-month-old baby.

Twenty other survivors were rushed to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment, with five being in critical condition.

Bodies of the deceased have been moved to the same facility’s morgue.
