Narok Adventist Primary and Junior Secondary School has been closed indefinitely following the tragic death of a 14-year-old Grade Nine student discovered inside the school compound over the weekend.

According to Narok County CEC John Gatua, the student’s body was found in the dormitory with visible injuries, suggesting a struggle. It is feared that the attack may have occurred during the early morning hours, though the motive remains unclear.

Narok County Education Director, Apollo Apuko, confirmed the school’s closure as investigations continue. He urged parents and the community to remain calm while authorities work to determine the cause and details of the tragedy.

“We are closing the institution today, and we do not want to see any students here. We leave the matter to the DCI,” Apuko said.

Police, led by Narok Central Sub-County Commander John Momanyi, revealed that the boy was found with a deep cut on his neck. He was rushed to Narok County Referral Hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Investigators discovered blood stains on a bench outside the dormitory, large amounts in the boys’ toilet, and drops near the clothesline.

We have one suspect in our custody and they will be arraigned in court. The matter is still under investigation,” John Momanyi said, assuring the public that authorities are pursuing the case diligently.

The incident sparked outrage among parents and local residents, some of whom stormed the school compound in protest. The tragedy has left the school community in mourning, with students, teachers, and parents expressing shock and grief.

John Gatua, a Narok County CEC, described the incident as unprecedented. “This school is in my neighbourhood, and we are still in utter shock over what has happened. We did not hear any signs of struggle or noise that night. It’s frightening to imagine that a student could be killed like this,” he said.

Authorities have appealed for calm and assured that the investigation is ongoing. The student’s body has been taken to Narok County Referral Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination as the community waits for answers.
