Property worth millions of shillings was destroyed on Thursday night after a fierce fire broke out at Katani Villas, a gated residential estate in Syokimau.

Residents reported that the inferno, which started at around 7:30 p.m., quickly spread through several houses, sending occupants fleeing for safety.

Firefighters from Machakos and Nairobi counties responded to the distress call, battling the flames late into the night. By the time the fire was contained, several units worth millions of shillings had been reduced to shells.

No casualties were reported from the fire incident.

Investigations are underway to establish the cause of the fire.
