Ruto is attending the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where he is expected to hold various side talks and events.
In New York, the Head of State will attend a roundtable meeting with the U.S. Chamber’s U.S.-Africa Business Center and AmCham Kenya on September 25.
Here, Ruto will join filmmakers, television producers, studio and streamer executives, sports industry figures, and senior music industry leaders in a bid to chart a production pipeline between Kenya and Hollywood.
The delegation will consist of executives from Los Angeles-based production company Indigo Reign Films as filmmaker Evette Vargas is expected to present “The Mara” as a case study for global cooperation in the creative economy.
Through the talks, Kenya expects job growth, small business opportunities, and expansion in the tourism industry.
In New York, Ruto will also take part in talks on advocating for reforms of the global financial system, and calling for fair access to development finance for developing countries.
“He will also push for reforms of the United Nations to make it more inclusive and to address global peace and security challenges, including enhancing peace efforts in Sudan, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia, and Haiti,” State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed said on the visit.
