A police officer has been arrested in connection with the killing of his colleague two months ago in Luanda Sub-county.
The individual, who had been missing since the incident, was arrested by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) after weeks of pursuit.
The person of interest is believed to have been on duty with the deceased officer on the night of August 22, 2025, when the incident occurred. The two had been assigned to guard a government-subsidised fertiliser container at Esirabe in Luanda Sub-county.
After the shooting, the officer is said to have fled the scene, leaving behind his uniform and firearm. He is reported to have fired several shots into the air before escaping.
Luanda OCPD Richard Siele confirmed the arrest, saying the officer is currently being held at the Luanda Police Station and will be presented in court tomorrow as investigations continue.
“The officer linked to the killing of his colleague two months ago has been arrested and will be arraigned in court tomorrow,” Siele said.
He added that investigators are still gathering more information to establish what transpired during the incident.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
The deceased officer was buried last month at his home in Uasin Gishu County.
Incidents of police officers turning their firearms on colleagues continue to raise concern and taint the image of the disciplined forces.
