The Kenya Power and Lighting Company has released a list of areas that will be affected by a power blackout due to scheduled maintenance.
Through its Facebook handle on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, Kenya Power reported that the planned power interruption will take place on Thursday, December 11, 2025.
“Good Evening, the following areas will be on a planned power maintenance tomorrow (11.12.2025),” Kenya Power wrote on Facebook alongside scanned screenshots of areas to experience blackouts.
This, Kenya Power says, is part of routine network maintenance works aimed at improving electricity supply reliability across the country.
According to the utility firm, the blackout will affect several regions, with each region experiencing power interruptions within specific time ranges.
Nairobi Region (9:00 am to 5:00 pm)
Parts of Muthaiga, Eastleigh and South C will experience a power blackout from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Affected areas include the Traffic Police Headquarters, part of the Utalii Hotel, Muthaiga Primary School, Mathari Teaching and Referral Hospital, Shauri Moyo AP Camp, Shauri Moyo Dispensary, Shauri Moyo Estate, Blue Estate, Parkview Estate, Heshima Estate, Five Star Estate and parts of Ole Shapara Avenue.
Nasra Estate along Spine Road will experience a separate interruption from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

Affected locations include Mama Lucy Hospital, Nasra Estate, Naivas Supermarket, Bee Centre, Shell Petrol Station, Sosion Estate and Shujaa Mall.
Mt Kenya Region (9:00 am to 5:00 pm)
In Nyeri County, parts of Kariko will be affected from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Areas listed include Kinu, Gathera, Kariko Market, Mucharage, Kianduma TBC, Kiamutundu TBC, Ciagumba, Muirungi Secondary School, Ngaru Market, Kianyundu and Kiangima.

In Kiambu County, Thogoto and areas around PCEA Hospital will also experience a blackout within the same time range.
Affected institutions include the University of Nairobi Kikuyu Campus, Kikuyu PCEA Hospital, Alliance Boys High School, Alliance Girls High School, Thogoto Shopping Centre and Thogoto TCC.
Western Region – Busia County (9:00 am to 5:00 pm)
Parts of Nambale will experience a blackout from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Areas affected include Mungatsi Market, Madende Secondary School, Ekisumo Primary School, Esidende Polytechnic, Lupida Health Centre, Busibwabo, Busidibu, Nambale Boys, Mabunge, Lwanyange, Lugulu and Malanga.
Western Region – Vihiga County (9:00 am to 5:00 pm)
Parts of Sabatia will be affected, including Sabatia Eye Hospital, Vokoli, Kwa Shem, Mago, Busweta, Galagosi, Chakanga, Itegero, Jamlongoji, Budaywa, Bugina, Mulele, Ikobelo, Mudungu, Nabwani, Chakombero and Chavogere.
Western Region – Kisumu County (9:00 am to 5:00 pm)

Areas around KESREF will experience a power interruption, including Kibos Prisons, Tamuwa, Cibo, White Coal, Sugar Research, Gita, Kajulu Water and Got Nyabondo.
Western Region – Kakamega County (9:00 am to 5:00 pm)
Lubao and surrounding areas will be affected, including Ebwabwa, Shinyalu Bar, Bishop Stamp, Emusala, KMTC, New National Housing, Shikutsa Prison, Emukaba, Haditi, Bukhaiywa Safaricom and Bukhaiywa Secondary School.
Eastern Region (9:00 am to 5:00 pm)
In Machakos County, the whole of Tala and Kangundo Road will experience a blackout from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Areas affected include Tala Town, Kangundo Town, Tala Market, Matungulu, Katangini, Mukuyuni, Kivaani, Kitwi and surrounding areas.
Central Rift Region (9:00 am to 4:00 pm)
Parts of Londiani in Kericho County will be without power from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Areas listed include Sachangwan, Kamaua, Londiani Girls, Kamuingi, Gwitu Village, KEFRI and nearby customers.
North Rift Region – Uasin Gishu (9:00 am to 4:00 pm)
Parts of Lingwai and Bindura will experience a blackout, affecting Ngeny Bindura, Tulwet, Chuiyat, Kamuiywo and Bayete.
North Rift Region – Nandi (9:00 am to 6:00 pm)
Tembwo Village will experience a longer power interruption, affecting Tembwo Village, Koimet Village and Chebindara Village.
North Eastern Region (9:00 am to 5:00 pm)
In Garissa County, parts of Garissa and Modika will experience a blackout. Affected areas include Garissa Referral Hospital, Garissa University, Garissa County Assembly, Garissa Water Revenue Offices, Modika Barracks and the Water Treatment Plant.
Kenya Power has advised customers in all affected regions to plan accordingly and apologised for the inconvenience caused during the scheduled maintenance.
