Veteran actress and digital content creator Jackie Matubia has opened up about the challenges she has faced since publicly announcing that she gave her life to Christ.
Speaking about her faith journey, Matubia, in a phone call conversation with Milele FM presenter Ankali Ray, revealed that one of the biggest struggles has been dealing with public perception.
She said she often hears people claim that women only turn to God when they get older, a narrative she finds discouraging.
According to the actress, there is also constant pressure from people who seem to expect her to fail in her walk of faith.
“The big challenge is nasikia watu wanasema, ‘Wanawake wakizeeka wanaturn to Christ,’ and the fact that everyone is winking for you to fall; that is the biggest challenge,” Matubia revealed.
The actress also clarified that her decision to return to Christ was not driven by a need to please anyone. She explained that by the time she made her announcement public, she had already been rooted in her faith for some time after quietly returning to God.
Matubia further described her faith journey as a process that requires commitment and strong roots, adding that it is a personal walk that goes beyond public opinion.
“It is the journey and how you are rooted. I am not doing it to please anyone; actually, by the time I was announcing it, nilikuwa nimekaka since I returned to Christ,” she clarified.
Reasons behind her decision
Matubia shared that she had previously walked away from her faith, but her upbringing played a role in her return.
She said she was raised by a man whose faith remained strong until his last breath, something that left a lasting impact on her life.
“I was once there nikatoka, and I was raised by a man whose faith was so strong till his last breath,” Matubia stated.
While motivation played a part, Jackie noted that the main reason she surrendered her life to God was exhaustion with her previous lifestyle. She added that she reached a point where she was simply tired and felt the need to fully surrender to God and live for Him.
“Kitu ilinipush was the motivation, but the main reason was the fact that I was just tired of this other life. I just wanted to surrender to God and live for him,” she added.

On Wednesday, December 31, 2025, Matubia publicly announced that she was born again in Christ and redeemed by God’s grace. She said she walks by faith and stands as a living example of what God can do in someone’s life.
“This year, I’m choosing a prayer board over just a vision board. Vision boards show what I want, but prayer boards place those desires in God’s hands. Because without prayer, a vision is just a picture, but with prayer, it becomes purpose. I’m not just manifesting… I’m seeking God, trusting Him, and surrendering the outcome. 4 Every plan, every dream, every hope covered in prayer,” Matubia stated.
