Kenya Met has issued the January 2026 climate outlook, saying most parts of the country will experience mainly sunny and dry conditions throughout the month.

However, the department on Friday, January 9, 2026, noted that some areas will receive occasional rainfall.

Kenya Met says rainfall is likely in western Kenya, the Lake Victoria Basin, the southern Rift Valley, parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi County, the southeastern lowlands, and southern coastal areas.

In the outlook, Kenya Met states that “most parts of the country are expected to experience mainly sunny and dry conditions during January 2026.”

The department explains that the dry weather will dominate large sections of the country, especially outside the listed rainfall zones. It adds that the occasional rains will not be widespread but will affect specific regions at different times.
