Kenyan teacher Fenwick Cyril Maloba has postponed his Guinness World Record attempt for the longest individual mathematics lesson, which was scheduled to take place at Menengai High School in Nakuru County.

Maloba was expected to teach mathematics non-stop for 45 hours, starting this Friday, January 30, at 8:00 am.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page on Friday, January 30, 2026, Maloba disclosed that the world record has been put on hold until further notice due to unavoidable circumstances.

World record

This comes days after he revealed plans to make history by attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the longest marathon mathematics lesson.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page ahead of the challenge, Maloba said the bold attempt is meant to change how people view mathematics.

“I will be participating in a Guinness World Record™ attempt for the Longest Marathon Mathematics Lesson (Individual)! I’m taking on this 45-hour challenge to prove that “Maths is not a monster—it’s a marathon. “If I can teach it for 45 hours straight, anyone can learn it for life!” Maloba wrote.

In addition, Maloba says the record attempt is not just personal but also a chance to put Nakuru and Kenya on the global map, as Guinness World Records observers monitor the process.
