Two suspects have been arrested in Nyali, Mombasa, following the recovery of 250 grammes of heroin during an operation led by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Anti-Narcotics Unit.

In a statement on Tuesday, the DCI said the raid was conducted after officers received what it described as credible intelligence on individuals suspected to be involved in drug trafficking and child trafficking.

The operation was carried out at Maweni Estate in Nyali, where officers searched a house believed to have been used to facilitate the illegal activity.

During the search, detectives recovered three sachets of heroin, leading to the arrest of the suspects identified as Amir Latf and Ruhman Abubakar.

Police said preliminary investigations indicate the two may be linked to trafficking networks operating across Mombasa, Malindi and Nairobi.

The DCI said the suspects are being held as investigations continue ahead of their arraignment.

The agency said the recovery and arrests underscore its ongoing efforts to combat narcotics and human trafficking through intelligence-led operations, including interventions aimed at protecting vulnerable children and dismantling organised criminal networks
