Mugithi songstress Wanjiru Wa Waya has introduced her little-known mum to her fans for the first time in a heartwarming clip.

In the video shared on her TikTok page on Saturday, February 7, 2026, Wanjiru thanked her mum for always being there for her through thick and thin, expressing just how smitten she is by the deep love and bond they share.

“You all have been greeted by my mum,” Wanjiru wrote in the caption, adding multiple love emojis to show her affection and pride.

In the short clip, the singer is seen dancing with her mum as she showed her some of the popular moves that have been trending in the showbiz industry lately.

Wanjiru danced in a variety of styles with her mum, laughing and encouraging her, while her mum is also seen at one point confidently showing off some of the moves she knows, matching her daughter step for step.

The playful interaction between mother and daughter continued throughout the video, with Wanjiru beaming as she guided her mum through each dance.

Towards the end, Wanjiru gave her mum, who was clad in the Catholic Church’s Mother Union attire, a long and warm hug, leaving her emotional and visibly touched by the display of love and appreciation.

Wanjiru’s aunt’s burial

Previously, K24 Digital reported that the singer was surrounded by friends, colleagues, and fellow public figures as she laid to rest two of her relatives in a deeply emotional ceremony held in Kandara on Thursday, January 29, 2026.

The burial was held for her two aunties, Susan Muthoni Githoga and Pauline Wangui Mwangi, who passed away within a span of days after battling cancer. The sudden loss left Wanjiru and her family grappling with immense grief.

A large number of Kikuyu celebrities and content creators attended the funeral to offer their support.

Among those present were media personality and singer Joy wa Macharia, Wanjiru’s partner Mbote Njogu, content creators Kufai and cross-dressing creator Dada Sarah, YouTuber Kogi Investor, media personality Kururia TV, and Facebook influencer Karangu Muraya.

Many of them engaged with mourners, consoling the family and offering prayers during the service.

The burial ceremony was marked by a sombre and deeply moving atmosphere. The two coffins were placed at the centre of the venue, allowing all attendees to pay their respects. The community, family members, and friends were visibly emotional, with several people breaking down as they said their final goodbyes.

The coffins were later laid to rest in a heartfelt ceremony that reflected both the pain of the loss and the love that surrounded Wanjiru and her family.
