Targeted police raid in Mombasa yields one arrest and large drug haul

Police in Mombasa have arrested one person of interest and recovered a cache of drugs during a targeted operation in the county.

A statement by the National Police Service confirmed that 30 sachets and 11 rolls of cannabis sativa are among the items recovered during the raid conducted by Police officers from Mikindani Police Station.

“Police officers from Mikindani Police Station have conducted a targeted operation against narcotic drugs in the Mataa ya Ndege area of Jomvu Sub-County, Mombasa County,” the statement read.

2 linked to child trafficking arrested with 250g heroin in Mombasa

This comes barely a week after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested two persons of interest in a coordinated operation that also led to the recovery of 250 grammes of heroin in the coastal city.

According to a post by DCI on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) conducted a targeted raid following credible intelligence regarding individuals suspected of involvement in both drug and child trafficking.

“In a coordinated operation led by DCI Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) Mombasa, two traffickers have been arrested, leading to the recovery of 250 grammes of heroin. The targeted raid was initiated following credible intelligence regarding individuals implicated in both drug and child trafficking.”DCI said.
