DCI captures 85-year-old foreign national linked to defilement

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has confirmed the apprehension of a man linked to a defilement incident.

In a statement on X on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, the DCI stated that an 85-year-old Swiss national was arrested in Watamu over allegations of defiling a 15-year-old minor.

According to the DCI, the person of interest, identified as Gisler Emil Johann, was taken into custody after police acted on information from members of the public.

The case began unfolding on Saturday, February 1, 2026, when the teenager’s parents reported her missing.

Despite initial efforts by the family and authorities to locate her, she could not be found.

However, police later received a tip-off that a foreign national had been seen with a juvenile inside a villa in Watamu.

Officers moved swiftly to the location and reportedly found the suspect in the residence with the minor.

He was immediately arrested and escorted to a police station for further processing.

The minor was rescued and taken to Gede Sub-County Hospital for medical examination as part of the ongoing investigations.

The DCI confirmed that the suspect remains in police custody pending arraignment in court. Investigators are compiling evidence as part of the case file.

In its statement, the agency reaffirmed its commitment to protecting vulnerable members of society.

“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations remains committed to conducting thorough investigations to ensure that perpetrators of such heinous crimes are held accountable,” the statement read.
