American YouTuber and streamer Darren Jason Watkins Jr, widely known as IShowSpeed, has shared a memorable moment from his Kenya tour, recalling the time he made members of the Maasai tribe try chicken for the very first time.
In a video he reshared on Monday, February 23, 2026, IShowSpeed is seen handing pieces of chicken to his Maasai tour guides during a visit to the Maasai Mara.
The Maasai, who traditionally eat only beef and goat, were clearly experiencing something entirely new.
“Are you nervous to eat chicken?” Speed said before handing one of his Maasai tour guides a piece of chicken to eat.
“This is his first time eating chicken; in his culture, they only eat beef and goat, so he is trying it for the first time.”

After taking a bite, the tour guide said that the chicken does not have have the meat taste.
“It is not giving out the taste for meat, it is not meat,” the Maasai tour guide said after eating the chicken.

Apart from the memorable cultural experience he had in Kenya during his first visit, the global streamer also recalled the overwhelming support he received from Kenyans during one of the viral moments when he gained 360,000 subscribers.
He described the experience as crazy and unforgettable.
“I want to gather that Kenyan moment again — 360,000 subscribers, which was crazy. Kenya showed me so much love, and I really love Kenya,” he said.
