DJ Spider, who fired up the crowd all through the Kakamega Linda Mwananchi rally, has reflected on the events of the day as Edwin Sifuna and Babu Owino led other firebrand politicians in addressing a huge political gathering amid teargas and chaos that the opposition blamed on goons and the police.

In a statement on X on the night of Monday, February 23, 2026, DJ Spider revisited the moment when a teargas cannister was lobbed into the crowd, with the Nairobi Senator standing his ground and asserting that nothing would disrupt the rally.

Hata teargas itupwe bado doba inaendelea (The music continues even when teargas is hurled at us),” the DJ said.

The DJ explained that the song that was playing when the teargas was hurled was Vasatsa Vayo, a song that was deliberately chosen to capture the moment of courage and bravery in the face of intimidation and Sifuna and the Linda Mwananchi stood their ground.

DJ Spider has been bringing the festive mood to Linda Mwananchi rallies, contributing to the vibrant and charged atmosphere that is reminiscent of the rallies addressed by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Oburu calls out DJ as Spider captures the moment in song

Unlike the rival faction led by party leader Oburu Odinga, whose rally lacked life with the DJ caught in an awkward situation in which he appeared to have slept on the job, DJ Spider’s presence is not only felt, but also heard through music and the charged atmosphere.

In fact, Oburu had to ask if there was a DJ at the rally as he tookto the stage with no song to fire up ODM supporters at Ahindi Grounds in Siaya.

The crowd could be seen staring with little excitement as Oburu took to the stage amid silence, leaving the Siaya Senator questioning what was wrong.

It is only after this that the DJ played a song, but by this time, the moment had already been lost and it failed to fire up the crowd and result in the desired celebratory effect on a people welcoming their leader and looking forward to his address.

DJ hakuna? Hatuna DJ (Don’t we have a DJ?” Oburu asked on the microphone after reading the mood and failing to see the excitement in the crowd while he was on stage.

A second voice could be heard on the public address system asking the DJ to swing into action.

How DJ Spider ds flavout to rallies

Known for accurately reading the moment and serving music to capture the moment and fire up the crowd, DJ Spider was a constant figure at Raila Odinga’s rallies.
