TikTok influencer Anne Kawira has announced her intention to vie for the Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat for Athiru Gaiti Ward in the 2027 General Election.
Kawira, who is Prophet Kanyari’s best friend, made the announcement through a TikTok post on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, in which she unveiled her political ambitions and outlined an eight-point manifesto focused on community development and social welfare.
In her agenda, she prioritised youth empowerment and job creation, positioning young people at the centre of her leadership plan.
“VOTE KAWIRA FOR MCA ATHIRU GAITI WARD Manifesto 1. Youth Empowerment and jobs,” she wrote.
She also highlighted the need to support women and vulnerable groups within the ward, signalling an inclusive approach to leadership.
Education and healthcare also featured prominently in her manifesto, with Kawira pledging to advocate for improved access to quality education and better healthcare services for residents of Athiru Gaiti.
“2. Women and vulnerable groups support. 3. Education for all,” she added.
On matters of governance, the influencer emphasised transparency, accountability, and responsible leadership, saying she was ready to promote trust and openness in public service.
She further outlined plans to enhance community safety and security, as well as champion environmental sustainability initiatives.
“4. Health care access. 5. Community Safety and Security,” she added.
Infrastructure development also formed part of her agenda, with Kawira pointing to the need for improved local infrastructure to support economic growth and better living standards.
“6. Transparency, Leadership, and Accountability. 7. Environmental Sustainability. 8. Infrastructure development,” the manifesto she shared added.
Her declaration adds to a growing list of young and digital-savvy personalities seeking elective positions ahead of the 2027 polls.
Among them is outspoken gospel singer Justina Syokau, who announced her bid for the Machakos County Woman Representative seat.
Speaking during an interview with a local media station on Thursday, January 15, 2025, Syokau said her ambition is rooted in a desire to give back to the people of Machakos County.
She highlighted her ongoing work with initiatives that support the girl child, noting that her efforts extend beyond her immediate community.
“Mimi nataka kukuwa women rep Machakos County. Nimekuwa nikigive back to the Machakos County kwa girl child initiative, not only to my community,” Syokau announced.
“If my people elect me, I will lead with wisdom, and one thing is that God alinipitisha machungu ilinisipitishe watu. Mimi ni yatima; mamangu alianga, and babangu ako, but mimi nimedeal na situation mingi. Mimi nilienda shule bila sanitary pads; nilikuwa natumia vitamba.”
She emphasised that her leadership will focus on both girls and boys, ensuring children receive education and parents are empowered with ways to support their children’s learning.
“So I will help both girl and boy children; I will make sure people are educated in Machakos County, and also nitasaidia wazazi wajue ni njia gani wataweza kusomesha watoto kwa njia ya urahisi,” she stated.
Syokau urged voters to support her and start addressing her as the Honourable or as Machakos Women Rep.
“Naomba sana watu wanishike mkono na watu, na watu wanaponiona tafadhani muniite ‘mweshimiwa’ kuanzia sasa muniite ‘women rep wa Machakos’,” she urged.
