In a ruling by Justice Nyakundi, Vincent Ngososei was charged alongside Jamleck Morogit and Kandie’s wife Rose Chepkemboi Rotich, for the marathoner’s murder.
According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), Ngososei admitted to the lesser charge of manslaughter under a plea agreement with the State.
In the plea deal, Ngososei told the court that he had been instructed by one of his co-accused, the wife of the deceased, to discipline Kandie over alleged infidelity.
Prosecutors led by Sidi Kirenge presented sufficient evidence placing Ngososei at the athlete’s home between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on October 3, 2024. Kandie was later found severely assaulted and died from the injuries.
In a related development, the second suspect, Morogit, also entered into a separate plea bargain with the State. He was convicted of conspiracy to murder and sentenced to six years in prison.
Under the plea agreements, both Ngososei and Morogit are expected to testify against their co-conspirator, Rotich, in the ongoing murder trial.
