Homabay Governor Gladys Wanga has praised the Orange Democratic Movement Linda Ground DJ ahead of the party’s National Delegates Convention set to be held on Friday, March 27, 2026.
In an interview with a local TV station on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, the ODM Chairperson sought to calm the storm sparked by party leader Oburu Odinga’s remarks questioning if a DJ was available at a recent Linda Ground rally.
The governor promised that Kenyans will see the DJ in action at the ODM NDC, exuding confidence that he will meet their expectations and even surpass them.
“Tuko na DJ mkali sana. Utamuona Friday, ni mnoma vibaya. Ni mbayaa (We have an excellent DJ. You will see him on Friday, he is on top of his game),” Wanga remarked.

The Linda Ground rallies have, in the past, been dull, with the lively atmosphere and music to power the crowd through conspicuously missing.
Oburu’s hatuna DJ remarks
Notably, DJ Spider, who spiced up ODM rallies during Raila Odinga’s lifetime, is allied to the rival Linda Mwananchi faction led by firebrand politicians including Senator Edwin Sifuna, Governor James Orengo and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.
Party leader Oburu Odinga lamented at an event in Siaya, questioning whether a DJ was available after he was welcomed to the podium with no music to charge the crowd and set the stage for his address.
The crowd could be seen staring with little excitement as the party leader took to the stage amid silence, leaving the Siaya Senator questioning what was wrong.
“DJ hakuna? Hatuna DJ (Don’t we have a DJ?” Oburu asked on the microphone after reading the mood and failing to see the excitement in the crowd while he was on stage.
Politicians rush to address the situation
It is only after this that the DJ played a song, but by this time, the moment had already been lost, and it failed to fire up the crowd and result in the desired celebratory effect on the people welcoming their leader and looking forward to his address.
Since then, politicians have gone to great lengths to address the concerns.

Busia Woman Representative Catherine Omanyo is among those who responded by sharing photos showing the DJ wearing a reflector branded in party slogans and colours in what appears to be an ODM rally.
“Tuko na Dj (We have a DJ),” Omanyo stated on Wednesday, February 26, 2026.
