Real Madrid manager, Alvaro Arbeloa, has explained why his team lost 2-1 to Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-final first leg tie on Tuesday.
Goals from Luis Díaz and Harry Kane sealed the win for the Bundesliga giants, leaving Real Madrid with a mountain to climb ahead of next week’s return leg.
Speaking to reporters at his post-match interview, Arbeloa admitted that two specific slip-ups proved fatal against Vincent Kompany’s side.
“This is a defeat we perhaps could have avoided in the second half with a bit more luck,” Arbeloa said.
“We faced a great team, and we knew it. We made two mistakes, two turnovers, which we had discussed before the match and during halftime, that we needed to avoid.”
