Two suspected drug traffickers have been arrested in Nairobi following a raid by detectives targeting a suspected narcotics distribution network.
The suspects, identified as Nasiim Abdallah and Trevas Mungai Okoth, are being held at Muthaiga Police Station pending processing and arraignment in court.
According to police, detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit and the Transnational Organised Crime Unit recovered a large cache of narcotics during an operation at an auto spare and garage shop in Ruaka, Nairobi County.
Acting on intelligence reports, officers raided the premises in the Riverside area and recovered four bales of cannabis sativa wrapped in yellow and green cello tape and concealed in a blue metallic box.
Police also recovered 12 blue carrier bags filled with bhang hidden inside a white bucket, 26 zip-lock bags each containing 49 rolls of bhang, 20 additional zip-lock bags with bhang, as well as assorted packaging materials.
Investigators say the recoveries point to a well-organised narcotics packaging and distribution operation.
