In Ugenya, Siaya County, police are investigating the murder of a 20-year-old man and the arson of a house in Usdiu ‘A’ village, Ukwala location, on Saturday evening. The incident began with the discovery of the deceased’s body, prompting a group of angry youths to storm and torch the house of the suspected killer.

Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo reported that Okech Okwako, the owner of the homestead, stated that around ten young men invaded his home, searching for his grandson, who managed to escape. The attackers, armed with crude weapons, set fire to the grandson’s grass-thatched house.

Okech mentioned that the men accused his grandson of being involved in the attack on the deceased. Police found the deceased’s body along the Awendo-Diraho road, about 200 meters from the homestead, with a deep cut on the left side of the abdomen. Mr. Kimaiyo noted that the deceased was part of the group that had gone to attack Okech’s home.

The body has been taken to the Ukwala sub-county hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
