Tragedy struck in Bondo, Siaya County, as a 4-year-old boy drowned in a dam, according to Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo. The incident has left the South Sakwa Ward community in mourning as they grapple with the boy’s sudden and tragic death.

Preliminary reports suggest that the boy slipped into the dam located in the Kopolo area. His brother, Stephen Otieno, informed the police that his younger sibling, a pre-primary 1 pupil at a local primary school, had accompanied others to fetch water when the accident occurred.

“The boy was allegedly playing with others when he fell into the waters and drowned, while his playmates watched helplessly,” explained Kimaiyo.

Members of the public retrieved the boy’s body from the dam, and it has been transferred to the Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary pending a postmortem examination.
