A 75-year-old man in Bungoma passes away after allegedly being beaten

A 75-year-old man died after he was allegedly attacked by his neighbor with a walking stick during a confrontation in Kopsiro, Bungoma County. According to police, Hudson Cheboit was struck on the head and was rushed to Bungoma County Referral Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 13. The suspect has been arrested and is awaiting arraignment, while the body has been taken to a local mortuary. The altercation reportedly stemmed from a disagreement over land in the area.

In a separate incident in Kimilili, Isaac Wanyonyi, a casual laborer, was allegedly assaulted by a hotel employee following a disagreement and died from his injuries in the hospital. The incident took place at a hotel in Kimilili Township.

The victim was rushed to Kimilili Subcounty Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment. Police reported that the victim had suffered burn injuries on his back. The scene has been processed, and the body has been sent to Kimilili Subcounty Hospital for a postmortem examination as investigations continue to identify the suspect.

Meanwhile, a man was shot and wounded during a confrontation between two groups at a peace meeting that turned chaotic in Hola, Tana River County. The two groups from Zubaki Location held the meeting at Mahono Sublocation, which escalated into chaos over disagreements regarding the agenda.

In response, two armed Kenya Police Reservists fired their Mark 4 rifles into the air. During this incident, one person present was shot in both legs and was rushed to Ijara Subcounty Hospital in serious condition. Police responded by disarming the reservists and confiscating their weapons as evidence. They recovered three spent cartridges from the scene, and investigations are ongoing to resolve the dispute that led to the shooting.
