In a Monday morning operation in Kamulu, Nairobi, police recovered five suspected stolen vehicles and arrested a suspected car thief, Salesio Njagi Kiura.

Kiura had been pursued by detectives following a June 10 report of car theft to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Buruburu.

The stolen car, a Toyota Ractis registered as KDJ 366C, was reported stolen from Nairobi’s Umoja Innercore area. The owner had discovered it missing shortly after parking it at a spot. During a raid at Kiura’s residence along Josna Road, the police discovered the reported stolen car being dismantled.

“Inside the same gated home were found four other vehicles, including a blue Mazda Demio Reg.No KCW 831N, a Toyota Ractis (silver) KDB 216T, a Suzuki Mira (silver) KDB 308P and a white Toyota Passo Reg.No. KCW 346L (colour changed from its original blue),” detectives said on Monday.

All vehicles were towed to Buruburu police station, where the suspect is in custody.
