Media personality Alex Mwakideu has maintained that he has no preferred presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 General Election, despite recently praising development projects undertaken by President William Ruto’s administration.
Mwakideu’s remarks come amid online criticism following his comments on the government’s affordable housing project in Eldoret and the ongoing construction of the Naivasha–Nakuru–Mau Summit Road.
Speaking about his political position, the radio presenter said he was yet to decide whom to support in the next election.
“Right now I have no presidential candidate,” Mwakideu said on Tuesday, October 20,2026.
He also spoke about his political interests in Nairobi, saying, “Nairobi niko tu na Senator Jalang’o na governor.”

Mwakideu on being Raila’s supporter
The radio host also disclosed that his voting decisions had long been influenced by the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
“To be very honest, mimi maisha yangu yote nilikua napigia Baba kura since 2002,” he said, reflecting on his political history.
He also recalled how he followed Raila’s political direction whenever he went to the ballot.
“Alikuwa ananiambia, hukuwa uniambie kitu nyingine. Akisema left. Akisema, right, right,” he added.
However, Mwakideu maintained that he currently had no preferred presidential candidate and was still observing the political landscape ahead of the 2027 polls.
“I do not have a presidential candidate. I do not have a presidential candidate. Bado nangalia agalia nione kutakuwa namna gani,” Mwakideu stated.
Mwakideu praises Ruto’s development projects
The presenter’s political position has drawn attention following his recent praise for projects associated with Ruto’s administration.
On Monday, October 19, 2026, Mwakideu shared his reaction to the Pioneer Affordable Housing Project in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, describing it as impressive.
“Politics aside… This Affordable Housing Pioneer project was simply amazing,” he said.
His remarks attracted criticism from fellow media personalities, including Willis Raburu and comedian MCA Tricky, who questioned aspects of the housing programme and its affordability for ordinary Kenyans.

A day earlier, on Sunday, October 18, Mwakideu had also shared a video showing construction work along the Naivasha–Nakuru–Mau Summit Road.
“What’s up? What’s up? What’s up? What’s up? This is Naivasha. As you can see, Watu bado wako job,” he said, pointing out that workers were still on site.
He went on to praise the progress, stating, “It’s kazi juu ya kazi, naona kazi inaendelea fiti. Safi, safi, safi.”
Commenting on the road linking Naivasha, Nakuru and Mau Summit, he added: “Yeah. So this is the way, Naivasha, Nakuru, and Mau Summit Road, all the way. Imetoka mbali. Checki haya. Safi kabisa.”
Mwakideu further expressed optimism about the project, saying, “Yeah. A lot of work is going on, I’m telling you. I’m happy the country is under construction.”
He also predicted improved travel along the route, stating, “Very soon, you drive from Nairobi to Naivasha. You drive from Nairobi to Nakuru. You drive from Nairobi to Mau Summit.”
Despite his positive comments on the projects, Mwakideu has not declared support for a presidential candidate ahead of the next general election.
