The much-anticipated Thika Town Constituency football final will take place on Sunday, at the Kimuchu Grounds.
Thika Homeboyz will lock horns with Ndula FC in front of the Transport Cabinet Secretary Murkomen Kipchumba, who will be the guest of honour.
Interestingly, both rival teams proceeded to the finals after a narrow 1-0 win in the semis. Previously, Thika homeboyz smashed Gatuanyaga Del Monte 5-4 in post-match penalties after the match ended 0-0 in the last eight.
Ndula FC reached the semis after a six-goal thriller against Green Commandos who went down 4-2 in the hands of the finalists.
John Mwaura who plays as a right back for Ndula FC says he expects nothing but to be crowned Thika Town champions.
“It is a tense match but we are unbeatable, we have worked so hard to get to where we are and I believe we will walk away with the prize,” he said.
Organized and funded by the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) Thika under the stewardship of the area Member of Parliament Alice Ng’ang’a, the event aims to empower grassroot initiatives in nurturing talent.
Speaking exclusively to Citizen Digital, the lawmaker revealed that a formidable team will be selected from different teams to form a strong Thika Football Club, which will represent the vast constituency in national levels.
“We do not want this to end on Sunday no… we want to promote the talent that we have seen so far. Thika has the potential to produce the best in the world of football. We will form a team that will be difficult to beat, a disaster,” noted hon Ng’ang’a.
The final will mark culmination of a thrilling tournament that has captured the hearts and minds of residents for the last one month.
