Trans Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang marked one year of marriage to his wife Chanelle Kittony with a touching message shared on Facebook on Sunday, November 1.
”One year down, forever to go! Happy 1st Anniversary to my beautiful wife, Chanelle Chesang. My love, my blessing, my forever!” the senator wrote, alongside a black-and-white wedding video showing the couple smiling together.
How did Chesang get married last year?
The couple’s traditional Kalenjin wedding ceremony, known as Koito and Chaik, took place exactly a year ago in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County, and quickly earned its place among the most talked-about celebrations of 2025.
The invite-only event drew political heavyweights, business personalities, entertainers and international visitors from more than 14 countries.
President William Ruto served as guest of honour, congratulating the newlyweds and affectionately referring to Chesang as his “political son.”
He also used the occasion to encourage young couples to embrace parenthood, taking a lighthearted jab at the modern trend of opting out of having children. National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Siaya Governor James Orengo, KANU chairman Gideon Moi, Senators Ledama Olekina and Karen Nyamu, and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi were among those who graced the occasion.
Uganda’s Security Minister Jim Muhwezi also attended.
Entertainers including Mulamwah, Oga Obinna, KRG the Don and Dem wa Facebook were also part of the celebration.
Beyond the star-studded guest list, it was Chanelle’s father, Radio Africa Group chairman Kiprono Kittony, who provided one of the evening’s most memorable moments.
He revealed in a humorous speech that he had gone to great lengths to shield his daughter from suitors, including installing remote CCTV cameras, raising German Shepherds, and putting up electric fences. Despite all that, Chesang still found his way through.
Chanelle, who serves as a County Executive Committee Member in Trans Nzoia, comes from a distinguished lineage.
She is the granddaughter of the late political trailblazer Zipporah Kittony, and her union with Chesang was widely seen as a bringing together of Kenya’s political and business elite.
The ceremony itself was a visual spectacle. Held under a large modern tent to shelter guests from heavy rain, the venue was decorated in lilac, purple and cream, accented with large fresh floral arrangements.
Guests followed a floral dress code, while the couple wore matching custom purple-and-white outfits.
Chesang donned a white shirt with a purple embroidered vest and a fedora hat, while Chanelle dazzled in a corset gown with a long flowing train.
