Trans Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang is giving Kenyans a glimpse into his life beyond the chamber, and it turns out the lawmaker runs quite the agricultural operation.
On Tuesday, October 13, Chesang took to Facebook to share a photo album captioned simply “Harvesting Day!”
The post, which attracted significant attention, revealed a sprawling maize farm being worked by combine harvesters and tractors in what looked like a highly organised, large-scale agricultural undertaking.
Inside Chesang’s high tech farm operation
The images and footage showed the sheer scale of the harvest. Combine harvesters moved across a wide expanse of farmland while lorries waited nearby, ready to ferry the produce.
Chesang was not just a spectator either. The senator was spotted seemingly taking his turn behind the wheel of one of the tractors, personally overseeing the process alongside a close friend as they toured the farm together.
The operation was a showcase of mechanised farming at its most efficient, the kind of setup that large-scale commercial farmers in the North Rift region aspire to.

Kenyans react
The post quickly drew reactions from Kenyans who had a range of things to say about the senator’s bumper harvest and his impressive farm.
Sammy Wanje suggested the land could be put to public use:
“That land is suitable for university and those affordable houses will serve as hostels.”
Tororei Felix was full of admiration for the equipment on display:
“Technology at it’s best.”
Elsen Elsen appealed directly to the senator:
“Allow us to benefit too from the machine kama iko Trans Nzoia.”
Beverly Kitale Princes pushed for the workers to benefit too:
“Ungepea tu wasee hawana kazi vibarua ya kuvuna wapate hata ya ku buy unga.”
Kipkosgei Chemelei drew a broader lesson from the post:
“Every large scale farmer should support mechanised practices.”
Shaddy Shadrack offered a blessing:
“Amen Mweshimiwa Seneta! Kwa kweli Mungu ametubariki na mavuno. Naomba Mungu azidi kukutumia kuongoza kaunti yetu kwa hekima na umoja. Mavuno mema kwa kila mkulima wa Trans-Nzoia. Shukrani sana.”
Trans Nzoia County is one of Kenya’s most productive agricultural zones, known as the country’s breadbasket, and Chesang’s farm appears to be very much in keeping with that reputation.
