Four young men found themselves in trouble after a late-night attempt to break into a local shop took an unexpected turn when they discovered they were not alone.
The incident happened in Arusha, Tanzania, where the suspects allegedly targeted a business owned by Filipo Ng’aida in the middle of the night.
Suspects allegedly unaware someone was inside
A video of the incident was shared by Ayo TV, bringing attention to the unusual circumstances surrounding the break-in attempt.
Details indicate that the four young men allegedly approached the shop and began trying to force their way inside.
What they did not know was that someone was inside the premises. The situation changed dramatically when the men were startled by the person inside the shop.
Instead of continuing with their alleged attempt, the four took off, abandoning the break-in plan.
How Suspects Were Tracked
CCTV footage captured their movements, providing a record of the incident and their subsequent flight.
Ng’aida had installed the surveillance cameras after thieves previously made away with valuable property, including his motorbike and television.
Once the footage was discovered, residents used the information to trace the suspects to their homes.
The situation reportedly became tense when residents confronted the young men, who were allegedly assaulted before police arrived.

Suspect Linked to Owner’s Friend
Even more surprising was the discovery that one of those arrested was the brother of Ng’aida’s childhood friend.

Rather than relying solely on traditional security measures, Ng’aida’s CCTV system helped document the attempted break-in and captured information they used to identify the suspected intruders.
For Ng’aida, the decision to install CCTV came after experiencing theft firsthand and wanting to strengthen security around his premises.
Ng’aida Advises Traders
Speaking after the incident, he encouraged fellow business owners to consider installing CCTV cameras to strengthen security at their premises.
“I decided to install CCTV after they stole my motorbike and television,” Ng’aida said, while urging other traders to consider the technology.
He noted that cameras can help owners monitor their businesses and preserve visual evidence when something goes wrong.
The four suspects remained in police custody following their reported arrest, with the next steps expected to follow the relevant legal process.
