KCB FC has intensified its pre-season preparations as the team enters a new era under Head Coach Patrick Odhiambo. With the league set to begin next weekend, Odhiambo is guiding the squad through an intensive training camp in Kericho, concentrating on building a competitive team and integrating new players ahead of their opening match against Kariobangi Sharks at the Police Sacco Stadium on Saturday, August 24, 2024.
This rigorous training is part of the club’s comprehensive strategy to ensure the team is in optimal physical and mental condition for the upcoming season.
“We are working on building a squad that will compete effectively in the premier league. We have had a few additions to the squad, including having Francis Kahiro back and also reinforced the midfield by signing Dennis Maruti.
“Right now, we are waiting for more confirmations then we will be set for the league return,” said Odhiambo.
On Wednesday, KCB played the newly promoted Mara Sugar FC, in which they lost 1-0. Despite the result, the match provided valuable insights and highlighted areas that need further improvement before the league officially begins.
“The friendly match against Mara Sugar FC was an eye-opener for us. It showed us where we need to focus our efforts in the coming days. The players are giving their best, but there is still room for improvement.
“Our goal is to ensure we are fully prepared for the season ahead, and I am confident that with continued hard work and dedication, we will achieve great results,” added Odhiambo.
Having reached the FKF Cup final last season, KCB FC is now setting its sights on capturing its first Premier League title since rejoining the top tier in 2018.
In the last season, KCB finished in tenth position with 45 points.
