Athletes named to the Africa Senior Athletics Championships in Cameroon include Yego and Komen

Athletics Kenya (AK) has announced the selection of a formidable team of 59 athletes for the upcoming African Senior Championships, set to take place from June 21st to 26th, 2024 in Douala, Cameroon. The team consists of 26 female and 33 male athletes who will undergo intensive training at a residential camp in preparation for the championships.

“The team will report for residential training camp on Thursday. The athletes are also required to report at Riadha House on Thursday at 3 pm,” read the official statement.
The Kenyan team will be led by national head coach Julius Kirwa.

“The team will be led by Etyang, chairman AK National Police Service, and national head coach Kirwa,” the statement continued.

Here is the list of athletes selected to represent Athletics Kenya at the African Senior Championships:

Men:
1. Roncer Kipkorir Konga (10,000m)
2. Joseph Kiptum (10,000m)
3. Stanley Waithaka (5000m)
4. Levi Kibet (5000m)
5. Brian Komen (1500m)
6. Boaz Kiprugut (1500m)
7. Alex Ng’eno (800m)
8. Nicholas Kiplagat (800m)

Women:
1. Esther Mbagari (100m, 200m)
2. Rukia Nusra (100m hurdles)

These athletes will represent Kenya in various track events at the championships, aiming to bring home gold medals for their country.
