Kenyan content creator Baba Talisha has hit back at critics who accused him of conning women and borrowing money to bankroll a luxury lifestyle, calling out the rumours in a lengthy Facebook post on Thursday, September 10.
The creator, who has built a significant following online, said the accusations were nothing new.
Was Baba Talisha accused of manipulating women?
He listed a string of past claims made against him, from allegations that women in the Gulf were sponsoring his lifestyle to suggestions that his travel and high-end appearances were funded through borrowed cash, before dismissing them all.
“Hii social media nimeona mengi sana. Haya si mageni kwangu,” he wrote, loosely translating to “I have seen a lot on social media. These things are not new to me.”
Baba Talisha revealed that he has been involved in a court case since 2024, a situation he described as mentally and emotionally draining.
A gag order placed on him during the proceedings meant he could say very little publicly while the case was ongoing.
When the judgment finally came through, the court ruled in favour of the plaintiff, who was awarded approximately KSh 6 million.
That figure, he says, was quickly twisted online into a narrative that he had borrowed the amount to live lavishly.
“That does NOT mean I ‘borrowed KSh 6 million to live a luxury lifestyle,'” he wrote firmly.
How did Baba Talisha raise funds?
To pursue an appeal and secure stay orders, Baba Talisha explained he needed to raise funds as part of the legal process.
He already had KSh 250,000 set aside and quietly reached out to a small circle of personal friends to help bridge the shortfall.
He was clear that this was a private conversation, not a public fundraiser on TikTok or Facebook as some had claimed. Within 12 hours, those friends had collectively contributed over KSh 250,000.
“Not TikTok,” he wrote, drawing a sharp distinction between a personal request among trusted individuals and an online appeal to strangers.
Baba Talisha said he typically chooses silence when faced with accusations, but felt compelled to address this particular claim because of how far it had spread.
He made no indication of stepping back from social media, but warned that misinformation about him had been circulating for years and he had little patience for it.
