Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad have set their eyes firm on reaching the Kenya cup play offs this season as they look to go one better from the previous season when they finished sixth on the log.

With four matches to go, Blad are hosting university rivals Mean Machine and will hope to gain maximum points from Mean Machine who have won only one match against struggling MMUST RFC.

Blak Blad Chairman William Moto says they are ready for the university derby.

“This weekend we are playing UON (Mean Machine) who have just one win against MMUST and I know it will be a tough game but as we prepare to host them the boys know what is expected of them. We are ready for them and we want to make it for the play odds,” Moto said.

Moto exuded confidence of making the play offs having tackled the leagues “big boys” including KCB, Kabras and Oilers who all finished in the top three last season.

Blad are currently 5th on the Kenya cup log just a point behind Kenya Harlequins and Moto says they have a realistic chance of making it to the play offs.

He however urged caution from his charges saying they will need to win all their remaining matches in order to guarantee that.

“We have already played all the hard matches on paper; we’ve played against KCB, Kabras and Oilers. The last match we played at KU we defeated Oilers by just one point. For us to make it to the play offs we will have to win all the remaining matches.

“We have to win maximum points this weekend then prepare to face Quins in our next match but we are taking it a game at a time,” Moto assessed.
