A Bomet community came together to celebrate one of their own after Gilbert Rotich, popularly known as Tienindet, completed his police training and returned home as a newly graduated officer.
The homecoming event was held at Hexa Gardens in Bomet Town, where members of the local business community gathered to mark the milestone alongside Bomet Senator Wakili Hillary.
Gilbert’s Journey from Hardship to the Force
Senator Hillary, who shared details of the occasion on Facebook, described the celebration as a deeply moving moment.
He noted that Gilbert had relocated to Bomet Town at a young age and, through determination and resilience, managed to navigate a series of difficult obstacles that could have derailed his future.
“Gilbert’s touching story of a painful past reminded us that even the darkest chapters of life eventually come to an end,” the Senator wrote, adding that Gilbert’s refusal to give up was what set him apart.
Hillary said he took the opportunity to congratulate the young officer and commend him for his perseverance and hard work, closing his tribute with the words: “Congratulations, Tienindet!”
Community Rallies Behind Rotich
The celebration drew warm praise from those who attended and those who followed the event online.
Chelget wrote: “Congratulations, Menjet. I never attended since I was somewhere representing Mwesh.”
Nicholus Kipngetich Koskei added: “Congratulations, Gilbert Tienindet. Hon Senator, you did a remarkable job by impacting the life of this young man.”
Even those who do not count themselves among the Senator’s supporters found reason to appreciate the gesture. Brian commented: “I am not your supporter, but on this one I fully say you did the right thing. Keep it up.”
