Kabarnet law court has granted police 14 days to continue holding a man suspected to have murdered his wife contrary to section 203 as read with section 204 of the penal code.

Detectives presented Silas Barchiba before the Kabarnet Resident magistrate Purity Kosgei seeking more time to hold the suspect to enable them complete pending investigations.

Barchiba is suspected to have killed his wife Florence Kibor at Matingot Village, Kiponjos Location within Baringo Central On May 30, 2023, at an unknown time.

Investigating Officer Lameck Okeyo asked the court to remand Barchiba at Kabarnet police station to complete the investigation which included, tracing crucial and relevant witnesses and recording their statements.

“I pray that this court grants me 14 days to help me trace crucial and relevant witnesses and record their statements, conduct an autopsy of the deceased body and determine the cause of death and also escort the suspect to Baringo County Referral Hospital for mental assessment which is normally done on Tuesdays,” Okeyo prayed.

The court however accepted the miscellaneous application therefore ordering the suspect to be remanded for 14 days to pave the way for investigation.
