Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has joined the growing list of high-profile figures to snap up an invite to what is shaping up to be Kenya’s most anticipated celebrity wedding this year.

A content creator captured the moment on video, filmed inside what appears to be an official government office, complete with a Kenyan flag and formal portraits visible in the background.

The creator arrives with the now-iconic yellow card branded “The Invite – The Bahati’s” and proceeds to present it to the CS with considerable fanfare.

CS Ruku plays along with the KSh 1 million banter

The clip has a distinctly playful energy. The creator enthusiastically pitches the card, referring to it as the Diamond Series tier and making no secret of its price.

“Hii naitwa the invite. A black tie led by the Bahati’s. Na hii ndo yake… inaitwa the diamond series, 1 million kila kitu,” the creator says in the video.

CS Ruku, dressed in a sharp suit, leans into the humour rather than shying away from it. When the creator asks whether he plans to pay in cash or via M-Pesa, he does not miss a beat.

“Ni 6th of November… One million. Just one million, only. Pesa kidogo sana waziri,” the creator adds, referencing the wedding date before the CS quips back: “Tuachane na iyo mambo ya pesa, tusigonge.”

By the end of the clip, the CS has his invite secured.

Bahati and Diana’s wedding invite becomes a national talking point

Gospel artist Bahati and his wife Diana Marua have turned their upcoming second wedding ceremony, scheduled for 6 November, into a marketing spectacle that has had Kenyans riveted for weeks.

The couple introduced a tiered invite structure, with the Diamond Series sitting at the premium end at KSh 1 million per card. Several Cabinet Secretaries and other senior figures have reportedly purchased invites, and the couple has been vocal about their ambition to deliver the biggest celebrity wedding Kenya has seen.

Reactions across the country have been mixed. Some have praised the strategy as clever brand-building, while others have raised eyebrows at the pricing. Either way, the conversation shows no signs of dying down, and CS Ruku’s purchase has added fresh fuel to it.
