Private detective Jane Mugoh is mourning the death of her father, who passed away in the early hours of October 31, at a private hospital in Kerugoya.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke on Thursday, November 5, Mugoh said her father had not been visibly unwell at the time of his death.

He had previously fallen ill, received treatment, and was discharged. On the day he died, he took his medication as usual before collapsing at home. He was quickly taken to the hospital, where his condition worsened overnight.

“He vomited blood in the night and died at around 1.30am,” Mugoh said.

Prayer post that came too late

Before learning of his death, Mugoh shared a post on social media appealing to her followers to pray for her father, whom she believed was receiving care in the intensive care unit.

In the post she wrote, “Dad, I am praying to God to give you good health and peace, and you must start eating, Papa. My kings love you. My siblings treasure you. My Facebook family are praying for you. Get well soon, Papa. I am on my way shortly.”

She later discovered that the doctors had withheld the news of his death from her. By the time she made the prayer appeal, her father had already passed away.

Grief compounded by recent loss

The loss is especially painful for Mugoh because it follows the death of her mother in December 2024, nearly two years ago. In her tribute, she noted that her mother died around the same time as her birthday.

“Now, I have no one to dance with, no mother, no father, just an orphan. I do not know why these things happen to me in this manner. It is not easy for me. It is painful,” she said before breaking down.

She also recalled the plans the family had made together, including a sister’s event, her birthday celebrations in December, and travel she had been anticipating for next year.

“Dad, you taught me to be a courageous fighter and God-fearing. We had plans for December. You left without saying bye. It’s God who gave us you. It shall be well,” Mugoh wrote in her tribute.

She expressed gratitude to friends, neighbours, and social media followers who had offered support during the difficult period.

Her father is set to be buried on November 6, with family members also working to prepare his grave alongside her mother’s ahead of the second anniversary of her passing.
