Bongo megastar Diamond Platnumz has circled back his earlier announcement declaring that he was single.
On January 18th, the ‘Enjoy’ hitmaker shocked fans and music insiders after taking to his Instagram account to announce that he was not seeing anyone and that he wished not to be associated with any woman romantically.
“From today ningependa niwatangazie rasmi kuwa I am single. Sidate wala sina mahusiano na mwananmke yeyote. Hivyo nisiwekewe mwanamke yeyote kama mwanamke wangu. Itakapotokea kudate ama kuwa na mahusiano nitawajuza ama kuwatambulisha,” he wrote
Diamond’s shocking announcement came barely two months after he flew his on-and-off girlfriend Zuchu to South Africa for her birthday celebration.
In the videos shared on his Instagram Stories, Diamond could be seen ushering Zuchu into a restaurant, where a violinist serenaded the ‘Sukari’ hitmaker as they made their way to a reserved table by a pool.
His announcement quickly rocked the Bongo world with many stakeholders unable to reconcile his latest stunts with Zuchu and the unforeseen announcement. Others also viewed it as a publicity stunt to promote a new project.
Not too long after declaring his singlehood, Diamond again went online to clarify matters and to seemingly quell the unfolding drama.
Perhaps nudged by his own girlfriend or after reading his fans’ dissatisfied reactions, Diamond now announced that he was, indeed, taken and that his earlier announcement had been rescinded.
He also jocularly told off those who were celebrating the news, telling them to calm down, saying, “People just don’t break up that easily!”

Whilst she is signed to his label, Wasafi Records, Zuchu also happens to be Diamond Platnumz current girlfriend despite the fact that the two have always tried to play down the relationship even when it’s flatly apparent.
In fact, Diamond’s mother, Mama Dangote, and Zuchu’s mother, singer Khadija Khopa, have regularly denied that their children are in any relationship, stating that the two are just in a working relationship and nothing more.
On January 12, Mama Dangote was quoted saying that, as long as her doting son has not brought Zuchu home and announced his intention to marry her, she continued to consider him single.
“He has never brought Zuchu to me and said he wants to marry her. What I know is that Zuchu is his artiste. He can actually stay with 100 women but has not decided to marry. What I know is a wife is the one you take your dowry to,” she said.
